Senior Vice President and General Manager, Transmission & Distribution, ATCO Electricity Global Business Unit
Mr. Goguen began his career with ATCO in 1986 when he joined ATCO Electric (then Alberta Power) as an engineer. After taking on several roles within the company, Mr. Goguen moved to Whitehorse to oversee ATCO Electric’s northern operations as General Manager. During his five years in the Yukon, he oversaw the North of 60 companies. Mr. Goguen returned to Edmonton in 2004 after his appointment to Vice President of Transmission and, in 2010, became Vice President of the Hanna Region Transmission Development (HRTD) project. In 2012, Mr. Goguen was named Senior Vice President, Transmission Engineering and HRTD Project; in 2013, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Engineering and Construction. Throughout 2013 and 2014, Mr. Goguen led Alberta PowerLine’s successful bid on the Fort McMurray West 500 kV Transmission Project, which was awarded in December 2014 under the Alberta Electric System Operator’s newly established competitive process. (Alberta PowerLine is an ATCO-Quanta partnership).
In 2015, Paul was named Senior Vice President and General Manager, ATCO Electric Transmission Division; and in 2016 appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager, Transmission and Distribution, ATCO Electricity Global Business Unit.
Mr. Goguen holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons), Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alberta. He is on the Board of Directors for the Western Energy Institute (WEI), a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and a past Chairman of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce.
